HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Physical Education was established on August 27, 1947. Volkov Dmitry Ivanovich is appointed acting head of the department (Order for the Pedagogical Institute No. 382 of August 22, 1947).
July 1, 1955 Belyavsky V.E. approved by the head of the department of physical education. In October 1969, the department was reorganized. On the basis of the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Theory and Practice of Physical Education is being created. Borisov Gennady Kirillovich was appointed the head of the department. (Order No. 277 of October 11, 1969).
On September 7, 1972, by Order No. 206, Ivan Denisovich Budyukhin was appointed acting head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Physical Education.
Since October 1, 1972, the Department of Physical Education has been allocated as an independent unit. I.D.Budyukhin was appointed acting head of the department.
November 4, 1973 Budyukhin I.D. approved by the head of the department of physical education.
From November 17, 1976 to August 1, 2001 the Department of Physical Education and Sports was headed by Viktor Antonovich Koleda. While working as the head of the department, he defended his doctoral dissertation. He was a member of the NOC.
From August 31, 2001 to the present time, the Department of Physical Education and Sports is headed by Konstantin Konstantinovich Bondarenko.
GENERAL INFORMATION
In total, the department employs 33 teachers, including 1 professor, 2 associate professors, candidates of pedagogical sciences, 15 senior teachers and 14 teachers, 6 masters of pedagogical sciences. Of these, 1 master of sports of international class, 8 masters of sports and 10 candidates for master of sports. The education of all teachers corresponds to the profile of the taught discipline.
ORGANIZATION OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS
The purpose of our work is to promote a healthy lifestyle among student youth, improve health, promote their spiritual, moral and physical development on the basis of mastering deep general scientific and special knowledge, full implementation of creative abilities in a healthy lifestyle.
Physical culture is a compulsory academic discipline in the higher education system. In the process of physical education, students improve the system of physical culture knowledge, motor skills and abilities, there is a steady need for systematic physical exercises and sports.
All mass sports and physical culture and health-improving work is carried out by the department in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum for physical culture for higher educational institutions and solves the following tasks:
• attracting students, teaching staff and university staff to regular physical education and sports;
• health promotion, formation of a healthy lifestyle;
• increasing the level of physical fitness and sportsmanship;
• the formation of positive attitudes of students, their civic and patriotic education.
To solve the tasks at the department, work:
• 19 sports sections for students in 14 sports (volleyball, football, table tennis, badminton, karate, kettlebell lifting, powerlifting, all-around, freestyle wrestling, power gymnastics, taekwondo, arm wrestling, weightlifting, cycling);
• a fitness group for university staff;
• paid groups of physical culture and health-improving orientation.
Training sessions at the department are held in the schedule for 1-3 courses in the amount of 4 hours per week. The sports base of the university includes: 3 sports halls, a fitness center, a kettlebell lifting gym, a shooting range and a stadium.
When conducting classes, a differentiated approach is used, taking into account gender, age and sports interest. For students with various health limitations, a special medical department has been created.
Activities for ideological and educational work are actively carried out: a weekend trip to the Partizanskaya Krinichka with 2nd year students, visiting competitions held in Gomel (hockey, football, basketball, athletics, etc.), visiting the Museum of Sports Glory of Gomel Region ... Together with the sports club of the university and those responsible for sports-mass work at the faculties, the teachers organize events aimed at improving the health of students: sports events, competitions in football, volleyball, table tennis, streetball, strength gymnastics, all-around. Physical culture and health-improving work at the university is based on the calendar of competitions of the year-round sports day among university students.
The content of the work of the department in all areas is reflected in the work plan of the department and the individual plans of teachers.
